Which Microsoft accounts work?

SimpleNewsletter365 sends newsletters from your own work mailbox, so it needs a Microsoft account that comes with one.

What you need

• A Microsoft 365 business or enterprise subscription that includes a mailbox. Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, and the enterprise plans all qualify.
• A work account on that subscription: the kind of address your organization gives you, such as nina@yourcompany.com, that you already use for email in Outlook or Teams.

If that describes your account, you are ready. Sign in with Microsoft and your workspace is set up on the spot; there is no separate registration step.

How to tell which account you have

A quick check: where do you read your work email?

• If you sign in to Outlook or Teams with a company address, you have a work account. That is the one to use.
• If your address ends in @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or @live.com, or your subscription is Microsoft 365 Family or Personal, that is a personal Microsoft account. Microsoft treats these as a separate account type, and its sign-in page will not let them into SimpleNewsletter365.

The distinction comes from Microsoft, not from a plan or setting in SimpleNewsletter365: personal accounts do not have the kind of organizational mailbox the app sends from.

Only have a personal account?

You need a Microsoft 365 business subscription with a mailbox. Microsoft 365 Business Basic is the least expensive plan that includes one, and it works with a domain you already own, so your newsletter can send from an address like news@yourcompany.com. You can subscribe directly from Microsoft’s website.
